Registration is now open to all junior golfers for the 2013 Midwest Junior Championship presented by Iowa Network Services. Open to boys and girls ages 14-18, the Midwest Junior Championship will be played July 1-2, 2013 at the prestigious Wakonda Club, home of the Champions Tour Principal Charity Classic. The Junior Golf Scoreboard and Golfweek ranked event is open to all players, regardless of their state of residence.
The Midwest Junior Championship adds to the long list of major championships contested on the fairways of Wakonda Club during its 90 years of existence. The Des Moines course has played host to the U.S. Amateur Championship, Western Amateur, Trans-Mississippi Championship, NCAA Championship, Iowa State Amateur Championship, multiple AJGA events, and most recently the 2007 Western Junior Championship. Known for its steep elevation changes, large oak trees, deep rough, and slick greens, Wakonda Club provides a great setting for junior golf's newest event. Wakonda Club is annually ranked among the top 3 courses in the state of Iowa while being named the #1 course in Iowa numerous times.
The Midwest Junior Championship Tournament Board has been working hard to attract the top players in the Midwest and across the country. Invitations were originally sent out to the top finishers from the player of the year standings from the following golf associations: Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, and the Iowa PGA. Juniors have also been able to submit applications for special invites before registration opens to the public on April 10th.
Make sure to be a part of this exciting new event and take home the title at the inaugural Midwest Junior Championship!
